A transfer needs care. If Greene County custody ends because another county, PADOC, or another authority receives the person, VINE may report a custody change without proving community release. The PIN is for acknowledging an automated phone call. It is not an email verification code. Automated notices can arrive at any hour because the custody event triggers the message. A shared switchboard is therefore a poor choice. The person whose record is followed is not told who registered.
Note: Keep the four-digit PIN private and memorable, since entering it followed by the pound sign stops repeat automated calls.

The official Pennsylvania custody-notification service warns against relying on PA SAVIN as the only protective measure. That warning also makes good records sense. A notification reflects what a participating agency transmitted. The custodian still holds the event record, and a court docket may explain why the agency acted.
An older PA SAVIN fact sheet described the design as near real time once a jail records release. That phrase is not a guaranteed deadline. Network delivery, agency entry, or transfer processing can cause different systems to change at different moments. The VINELink mobile app is another way to receive a registered alert. It is a custody-notification tool, not a Greene County booking-photo archive or a feed of all recent releases.
