Greene County Release Records Explained
A Greene County release record answers when one custody episode ended and what authority ended it. That is narrower than a court case and more reliable than an empty roster search. Greene County Prison handles county detention and short county sentences. State Correctional Institution Greene is a Pennsylvania Department of Corrections prison. Their similar names do not make their records interchangeable. A person who leaves the county prison may enter the community, move to PADOC, or pass to another county. Someone who leaves SCI Greene may parole, discharge, or transfer within the state system.
“Released” describes an exit from a named facility. It does not always mean the person went home. The next record depends on the exit. Bail points back to the criminal docket. Judicial parole points to the sentencing judge and Greene County Adult Probation. State parole points to PADOC and the Pennsylvania Parole Board. A detainer points to the agency that took custody. That distinction is vital because the public county roster can lose the person in all of these situations.
- Release
- The end of custody at a particular facility, whether to the community or another authority.
- Discharge
- The end of the sentence or supervision obligation described by the controlling record.
- Parole
- Release from confinement while part of a sentence continues under supervision.
- Detainer
- A lawful hold that lets another agency take or continue custody.
- Time served
- Credit or sentence completion that satisfies the stated jail term, subject to any other hold.
Greene County Inmate Release Types
Greene County Prison records can describe several paths out of local custody. Each path sends the search to a different office or database. A bail release ends pretrial confinement after the court's conditions are met, but it normally does not end the criminal case. A flat sentence can end at its computed point. A county minimum and maximum sentence requires judicial parole before the person can leave at or after the minimum. Transfers and detainers end the county's immediate custody without ending confinement.
| Release or exit | What it means | Best next record |
|---|---|---|
| Bail or bond | Pretrial custody ended after court-set conditions were met. | Greene County release entry and UJS docket |
| Flat sentence completed | The local term reached its computed endpoint. | Prison release entry and sentencing order |
| Judicial parole | A county sentence continues under local court supervision. | Parole order and Adult Probation confirmation |
| State parole | A PADOC sentence continues under state supervision. | PADOC locator and Parole Board action |
| Transfer or detainer | The local placement ended while custody continued elsewhere. | Receiving-agency record |
| Dismissal or release order | The local legal basis ended, unless another hold remained. | Court docket and actual release entry |
A release reason must be read with the destination. The actual date and time show when the person left the facility, while the release authority explains why. Neither field alone proves arrival in the community. A receiving-agency locator or written transfer entry resolves that last point.
Greene County Release Record Fields
A focused Greene County release request should identify one commitment. Names alone can collide, so a booking number, approximate admission date, date of birth when needed, or court case number can help separate records. The county's JailTracker released-results table is configured to display names, book date, release date, booking number, jacket number, and facility. Expanded records may also show cases, charges, holds, and a booking image. Those screens are useful, but the institution's actual release entry remains the better historical proof.
| Field | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Full name and identifiers | Links the entry to the right person. |
| Booking or commitment number | Identifies the specific custody episode, not the court case. |
| Admission date and time | Shows when that jail episode began. |
| Actual release date and time | Shows when the person physically left that facility. |
| Release authority or type | Identifies bail, sentence completion, parole, court order, or another basis. |
| Destination or hold | May distinguish community release from transfer to another custodian. |
| Related case number | Connects the custody event to the docket that supplies legal context. |
The public search horizon is not the county's legal retention period. JailTracker offers seven-day and thirty-day released modes. Research found no promise that the underlying record is destroyed after thirty days. Once the public window closes, ask the county for the existing record tied to the custody episode.
Request Greene County Release Records
Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law process supplies the formal route for county executive-agency records. A request should name existing documents rather than ask the county to research a question or create a new report. Ask for the final release or discharge entry, actual release time, recorded type or destination, booking number, and associated booking photograph only if it is needed. Electronic delivery can reduce copying issues.
- Confirm the person and approximate custody dates through Greene County Prison, JailTracker, or the UJS docket.
- Use Greene County's Open Records Officer and official form. Describe the custody episode with enough detail to locate it.
- Request reasonably segregable public portions and ask the county to cite the legal basis for any redaction or denial.
- Keep the written response. The ordinary RTKL response period is five business days, and a lawful extension can add up to thirty calendar days.
- If access is denied, follow the stated appeal route to the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records within the applicable period.
Greene County Prison is at 855 Rolling Meadows Road, Waynesburg, PA 15370, and its main number is 724-627-7780. The department page lists prison business hours as Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A judicial docket or court order follows court access rules, so request that item from the Clerk of Courts rather than sending the county executive-branch RTKL form.
A roster search shows a limited public window. It does not replace the county's actual release record for an older custody event.
Greene County Release Access Laws
The Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law begins with a presumption of access for local and Commonwealth agency records, subject to exceptions, privileges, and other laws. The key provisions include 65 P.S. § 67.305 for that presumption, § 67.901 for the ordinary response period, § 67.902 for extensions, § 67.708 for exceptions, and § 67.1101 for appeals. The custodian must apply those rules to the requested record. A jail-related item is not automatically closed, and a field seen on a public roster is not automatically available in every context.
Juvenile information, medical material, victim data, active investigative content, security information, sealed records, and expunged material can require limits or redaction. Pennsylvania limited access and expungement are different. Limited access generally restricts broad public court visibility while preserving authorized access defined by law. Expungement follows the controlling order. If a docket disappears, that absence does not prove release, dismissal, or expungement. Ask the proper court or custodian for the confirmation that may lawfully be supplied.
Greene County Bail Release Timing
Greene County explains that a District Magistrate sets bail at arraignment. During business hours, bail may be posted at the arraigning magistrate's office. Outside those hours, it may be posted through the on-call magistrate at a time and place that magistrate selects, or through an approved professional bail company. This local route helps explain why a person may leave the roster late in the day. The change can reflect bond release while charges remain pending.
The court docket should show the bail event and the case that continues. The prison release entry supplies the physical exit time. Checking both avoids a common error: treating bond release as sentence completion. It also helps distinguish a delay in out-processing from a change in the court's bail order.
Greene County Release Property Rules
Greene County requires a released inmate to take all personal property and places responsibility on that person to verify its return. Remaining account money is issued on a debit card at release. A person transferred to another facility receives a check instead. These local details reflect two different administrative paths, but they are not public proof by themselves. The final release entry still shows whether the county recorded a community release or a transfer.
Account and property records can contain private or restricted information. Request them only when relevant to the requester's own matter or when the county confirms that a public portion can be disclosed. For general verification, the release type, destination, date, time, and booking number are the more direct fields.
Greene County Parole Record Trails
A county judicial parole and a state parole create different records. At Greene County Prison, a person serving a county minimum and maximum sentence applies through county probation and parole. The district attorney and sentencing judge take part in the route described by the county. The UJS Case Search is therefore central because the judge's order supplies the legal authority.
For a PADOC sentence, the Pennsylvania Parole Board makes the parole decision and PADOC records the state custody or supervision status. A Greene County court case can lead to incarceration anywhere in the state, so SCI Greene is not a county filter. Match the DOC number and identity, then read the current status and any release date in its precise context. A parolee release date marks release from incarceration to supervision, not final discharge from the sentence.
Greene County Release-Linked Fees
Greene County publishes two local fee rules tied to distinct processes. It lists $60 in combined Acts 96 and 139 charges before a county parole application is completed. The county also lists a $40 administrative fee for a weekend-sentence participant, payable by money order, and states that the participant will not be released at the end of that weekend incarceration until it is paid. These are published county procedures, not fees that apply to every Pennsylvania release.
| Local process | Published amount | Effect described by the county |
|---|---|---|
| County parole application | $60 | Combined Acts 96 and 139 charges must be paid before completion of the application. |
| Weekend sentence | $40 | The administrative fee is due by money order before end-of-weekend release. |
Neither fee predicts the actual release time. Judicial approval, sentence computation, detainer checks, and other lawful authority can still control the result. The release record is the historical confirmation.
Greene County Weekend Release Times
For partial-confinement and weekend sentences, Greene County says participants report through the prison's front lobby and are out-processed as close to their court-ordered report time as possible. They must keep reporting each week until the court changes the order or parole is approved. This is a narrow local timing rule. It does not establish a standard daily release hour for the rest of Greene County Prison.
Other exits depend on different events, including bail acceptance, judicial parole, a completed sentence, receipt of an agency's authority, and the final detainer check. For a same-day question, compare the JailTracker entry with direct prison confirmation instead of estimating from the weekend rule.
Transportation After Greene County Release
Greene County's work-release and weekend rules put transportation on the participant. They also prohibit parking on prison or nearby county property, and the weekend rules specifically include the neighboring Corner Cupboard Foodbank property. Family members should coordinate directly with the person and verify a lawful waiting place. Research found no official general pickup procedure or on-demand transit promise for releases.
Greene County Transportation Services operates a preregistered shared-ride model at 190 Jefferson Road in Waynesburg, phone 724-627-6778. Reservations ordinarily must be made by noon on the preceding business day, with Friday noon used for Monday service. It may fit a planned exit, but it should not be presented as an immediate jail pickup. The prison counselor can also include transportation in a parole plan when that service applies.
Find Greene County Released Inmates
Start with the last known custodian. Greene County Prison uses its county-linked JailTracker. A state inmate or parolee belongs in the PADOC locator. A federal sentence belongs in the BOP locator. The county and state systems answer different questions, and a failed search in the wrong one proves nothing.
- Confirm the person's name, spelling, and last known facility. Keep any booking, jacket, DOC, parole, or federal number.
- For county custody, choose JailTracker's Released mode and review its seven-day or thirty-day window. Compare the displayed date with the time period at issue.
- Read the UJS docket in date order for bail, sentence, parole, detainer, and disposition events. Treat it as legal context, not the exact out-processing log.
- Check PADOC, BOP, ICE, or another county only when the known case or release entry points to that authority.
- Use VINE for a named-person custody check and future notifications. Confirm the event with the facility when time or destination matters.
- Request the historical release record when the public window has closed or the available systems conflict.
A person who leaves the live county roster may have been released, transferred, or taken on a detainer. Absence alone does not identify which event occurred.
The Greene County 24-hour release process explains how to narrow the county's broader seven-day view. For one named person, reconcile all matching records and give greatest weight to the custodian's actual release entry for the facility-exit time.
Greene County Recent Release Windows
Greene County JailTracker has a real Released mode, but its selectable windows are seven days and thirty days. It has no dedicated twenty-four-hour or seventy-two-hour filter. A four-character CAPTCHA gates live name searching. To make a narrower list, choose seven days and compare each release date with the chosen cutoff. The longest public window should not be called a retention period, and no update cadence was verified.
The released table supports name, book date, release date, booking number, jacket number, and facility. Expanded details can include an image, cases, charges, and holds. A hold is important because it may show why the person left Greene County custody but did not enter the community. After day thirty, call the prison for a current personal inquiry or submit a specific records request for an existing release entry.
The official Greene County Prison page shows the Inmate Lookup and release-related controls used to reach the county system.
The county page is the correct Pennsylvania starting point and helps avoid same-named Greene County systems in other states.
PADOC Greene County Release Search
The PADOC Inmate/Parolee Locator covers people currently under Pennsylvania state prison jurisdiction or state parole supervision. It excludes county-facility and other-state prisoners. The inmate search requires a last name or inmate number, with first name as a useful narrowing field. PADOC says this side is updated daily. Results can show identity, inmate number, institution, committing county, photo, and related identifying details.
The supervised-person side can use name, parole number, residence county, district office, sex, birth or age information, and release date. A result may display a parole number, release date, county or district-office context, photo date, and last update. An absconder may carry the specific “Wanted: Parole Absconder” notation. Do not infer that label from an empty search or missed personal contact.
| Search field | Use and limit |
|---|---|
| Last name | Required for an inmate name search unless an inmate number is used. |
| Inmate number | Strong identifier for matching a state prisoner. |
| First name | Helps narrow common surnames. |
| Parole number | Identifies a person on state supervision. |
| Residence county or district | Helps narrow supervision results, but should not replace identity checks. |
| Release date | On a parolee result, it means release from incarceration to supervision. |
The manifest capture of the Pennsylvania locator interface shows the official search route used for state records.
The public locator does not promise a projected minimum, maximum, final discharge, or historical release field. When those fields are absent, use PADOC sentence computation or records.
Greene County Release Planning Services
Release planning exists at both local and state facilities, but through different programs. The Greene County Prison counselor can help with a parole plan that addresses transportation, treatment, and other support. The counselor may provide emergency clothing, make PennDOT and public-assistance forms available, and coordinate human-services referrals. Those services help prepare for an exit. They do not prove that release was granted or record when it occurred.
SCI Greene has a Reentry Service Office for people within eighteen months of a minimum and/or release date. PADOC reentry parole agents coordinate workshops and service connections. A person at SCI Greene remains in the state system, so county JailTracker cannot show that person's state parole or transfer. Use the statewide locator, the Parole Board record when applicable, and PADOC records for confirmation.
Detainers Block Greene County Release
Greene County Prison runs an NCIC check before release. The county says a detainer or wanted status can keep the person detained despite completion of the local sentence. When another county holds the detainer, Greene County can release the person to that authority after local obligations end. The event is both an exit from Greene County custody and continued detention.
This check is why an expected date can pass without community release. It is also why “released from Greene County Prison” should not be shortened to “went home.” The actual release entry, hold details that may lawfully be disclosed, and the receiving agency's record form the clearest chain.
Greene County Release Alert Systems
Pennsylvania VINELink is the public interface for PA SAVIN. It supports named-person searches and free, confidential alerts by phone, text, email, or app for custody changes transmitted by participating agencies. Search Pennsylvania, match the person and facility, and read the exact custody wording. No result is not proof of release. Data timing, participation, spelling, and transfer can all affect a search.
VINELink does not replace a court docket or certified facility record. For federal cases, the BOP Inmate Locator includes federal prisoners released from BOP custody since 1982. The capture below shows the federal search interface that applies only when the person was in federal custody.
The ICE Online Detainee Locator System is mainly a current-detention tool and can include people released from ICE custody within a limited recent period. The U.S. Marshals Service prisoner information has no comparable public historical release locator. Use these routes only when case facts point to federal or immigration custody.
The Pennsylvania Megan's Law registry is a separate, purpose-limited system. It covers only people who are legally required to register. A match can help identify the correct official record, but no result does not disprove release or the existence of a criminal case.
Greene County Custody or Release
The right system depends on both the custody type and the time period. A live county match supports present county custody. A county release entry documents an exit from Greene County Prison. The PADOC locator addresses current state incarceration and supervision, while BOP addresses federal custody and past federal releases. Court dockets explain legal authority but may omit the exact exit minute.
| Situation | Start here | What it can prove |
|---|---|---|
| Still in Greene County Prison | County JailTracker current mode | A positive current county custody match |
| Recently left Greene County Prison | Released mode, then county release entry | Release date and the recorded county exit |
| State prisoner or parolee | PADOC Inmate/Parolee Locator | Current state institution or supervision context |
| Legal reason for release | UJS docket and court order | Bail, sentence, parole, or disposition authority |
| Federal prisoner | BOP Inmate Locator | Federal custody status or recorded federal release |
| Old county event | Focused county records request | The facility's historical release entry |
Why is a released person missing from the roster? The current roster is built to show present custody. Released mode has a limited public horizon, and a transfer may place the person in a different system. Search the next likely custodian and request the older county entry when needed.
Greene County Release Facilities
Two operating facilities require distinct release routes. Greene County Prison is the county correctional facility and Central Booking Center. A person may leave on bail, after a flat sentence, through judicial parole, or to another authority. The county release entry, UJS docket, and VINE report different parts of that event.
State Correctional Institution Greene is a PADOC maximum-security prison for men. A person may transfer within corrections, parole under state supervision, or discharge at the sentence endpoint. Use the statewide PADOC locator and state records, not the county roster. No current federal prison, ICE detention center, or separate municipal jail was identified in Greene County.
